The Shocking Mess My kids Left Behind

Nothing compares to the shocking mess my kids and their friends made when left unattended a few years ago during a party. I've worked for tank cleaning services in my time, and this is up there with the toughest jobs I've had to do professionally.
My adult friends and I were downstairs catching up, laughing, talking and eating. We were relieved to be free of our children, ages three through nine, who were upstairs and by all accounts "entertaining themselves." Since there was no noise or trouble we presumed everything was okay. At the end of the evening we started gathering the kids to go home. What we found upstairs almost defies description. I cannot fathom how 4 kids can make such a huge mess in so little time. Lipstick and face powder smeared all over furniture, crayons melted on hot radiators, shaving cream completely emptied into the sink, soap and paint smeared on the walls, the bedspread, the furniture, and the windows. They had literally dumped out and emptied drawers ofknick-knacks and clothing, blended it all together on the floor, and left it in a tangled pile. The melted crayons had dripped onto the hardwood floor and gotten on the clothing. The worst part was, we couldn't even make the kids clean it up, as it was beyond their capability. We never got all the crayon off the floor, nor all the lipstick and makeup off the clothing. It was the biggest mess I've ever seen.
