Kids Can Create Beautiful Artistic Masterpieces

I would consider myself an art aficionado - my home has an eclectic mix of art on the wall - from Banksy prints to Van Gogh prints.
The other day, I took a most unusual trip to an art gallery. It was an exhibit hosted by the University of Kentucky featuring the works of elementary and high school students from across the county where the college is housed. To make the exhibit more authentic each young artist was given proper display mounting and credit for his or her work. While the pieces were mainly simple childhood pleasures – drawings of candy and kittens – the pieces embodied an innocence and perspective on life adults often lose. Many of the works featured bold colors and fascinating uses of pattern and symmetry. As I browsed at each student's work and saw students proudly showing off their creations to friends and family, I realized beauty is in the eye of the beholder. While most of these students will not grow up to be the next Picasso or Van Gogh their work is an expression of who they are and that is pretty cool.
