If you have ever lived in a mobile home you know that when it’s hot it’s hot and when it’s cold it’s cold. I do remember living in a bricks and mortar home and installing hardwood flooring to help keep the temperatures cooler - no such options in a mobile home!
I live in the heart of Texas and the summers are usually brutal so you definitely need your air conditioner. My air conditioner was working perfectly fine but there was water leaking from the unit into the floor causing a large amount of water to collect in and around the unit. You guessed it I had to turn it off to try and figure out what was causing this problem. Since I am a woman most people might think that by this time I really should be calling a plumber, but the last time this happened it was because the plumber left something off which I thought was the case in this situation. This situation was not the same. After looking at the pvc pipe coming from the unit through the floor to the outside and continued shaking with little to no result I decided to pour vinegar and baking soda through the pipe to clean it. The pipe was clean but there appeared to be something blocking the water from flowing out. Now it was time for me to play super hero, I went under the house and took apart the pvc pipe to find what looked like a rock lodged in the joint. After getting this out and reconnecting it the water no longer puddled in the floor. I was shocked and amazed to be able to fix the water leak from my ac unit. When push comes to shove we make it happen.

The internet has inspired me to improve my home and garden. There's no end of useful tips and pointers online - from blogs dedicated to gardening, to home and garden directories, to e-commerce sites, we're spoilt these days with the amount of information at our disposal to help us convert our homes from drab to fab.
My advice is to give your home and garden an "audit" - make a priority list of jobs that need doing. Some you can do on your own without buying anything, some you'll need to visit the local garden centre or DIY shop. Next up, have a look online and see if other people are in a similar position to you in regards to chores that need doing. You may save a lot of trouble and time by learning from others' mistakes, and so online research is vital before you actually embark on a project. |

I was surprised because I didn’t see my husband anywhere in the house when I woke up this morning. I was wondering where he was when I heard sounds of air compressors from the garage. I immediately went to see what it was and it was funny to see my husband trying to fix an engine of sort while two compressors were turned on. I just observed him for a bit before I let him notice that I was there because it is fun seeing my usually well-dressed, elegant, manager husband wearing sweatpants and dirty shirt while trying to do something that I don’t think he has any idea over. It was refreshing to see him laid back like that because he is usually so high strung that even I cannot help but walk on eggshells when he is around, just like his secretary and other subordinates. When it was obvious that he was in another world, I casually let out a sound just so he knows I was watching, when he noticed, I could readily tell that he was embarrassed to be caught in such a situation. |

I am an electrician and my wife is a model. She loves me nevertheless and she loves the fact that I am not a phony but instead a real person. She brings a lot of cash in the house because she is an aggressive model. She goes for jobs that pay her well and she does not allow her employees to pay her late. I am the opposite of that. I own a firm for domestic electricians and there was a month the business was not doing well because our clients were not paying well. My wife did not understand how that was possible. She was convinced that amongst all the basingstoke electricians I was the best and she could not get it why they were not paying me enough. After spending months thinking about it and weighing the pros and cons, I have decided to rent out my spare room, install a few bathroom storage cabinets and share it with roommate. I have always lived alone but I am planning to travel in at least 10 countries in two years and I wouldn’t be able to do so unless I come up with a plan to increase my income. I have haggled with my boss and because of the current state of the economy, he wouldn’t be able to give me a raise even I deserve it, although he did promise to give me time off with pay should my travel plans push through. So I left with no alternative but to either find a part-time job or get a roommate and I would rather have a passive income than work few hours more everyday. I just need to alter the place a bit to make it more livable for two, especially the bathroom which we will end up sharing. |

Sometimes it's easier to do a self build than it is to do extensions on your own house. With your own house, you're always working to restrictions. With a self-build, you can create a new holistic design that isn't bound by the constraints of what already exists. A self build design can be less compromising and you can have a "joined up" design where the house layout simply makes sense because it's been designed completely.
It comes down to your needs. If you really just need a conservatory, and you have the garden space, then go for it - that makes for a sensible extension to your current property. If you require much more than that - perhaps to make the whole house accessible to the disabled - maybe it's worth considering a self build just to see if that might turn out to be a simpler solution than changing each and every room of your house. |

I've just been flicking through some Country Living magazines, and I really love the fashionable French shabby chic style, which seems to be featured in nearly all the articles.
I'm currently renovating an old farm house in France and I've already assembled a small collection of old French stoneware crocks, pots and jars for my kitchen, so I'm planning to add a large oak dresser to display them in style! I've also bought quite a few old pottery dishes from the local 'épicerie' or grocery store in my village.
In France, many of the small local shops sell their meat or mushroom patés directly from large pottery dishes, and once the paté is all sold, they give them a good wash and sell these to their customers at a nice cheap price. A very practical solution in these 'thrifty' times, especially as they make great dishes for cooking stews and are also excellent for making pies. They're very attractive too, which is always a bonus! |

I end up buying more than one item and these things have been very helpful in keeping my home organized.

It keeps your underwear and socks neatly organized in their small compartments. There is even a huge, square plastic bag with a zipper for storing your comforters or thick blankets. For most households, the garage isn’t just used as a place to park their car. My husband and I have been living in our home for the past five years now. It is our first home, and a great one at that. We got a really good deal and love pretty much everything about it. There are three bedrooms, two and a half baths, a two car garage, and it all sits on five acres. The only downside, is that the basement isn’t finished. My hubby works for a roofing services company so isn't a novice when it comes to DIY and he has good contacts in the industry too. While we do have a living room and family room upstairs, we want an area to put our pool table and poker table and set up a bar area for our friends. We really want an area that can be “messed up” once in a while when our rowdy friends come over. Right now the basement is bare bones. I would love to put up dry wall and hardwood the floor. As for decorating, my husband and I are big sports fans, especially baseball. It would be awesome to be able to display our memorabilia and trophies as well as some cool art pieces from our favorite teams. Ultimately, this area would be our party zone. We think it would be so cool! |
