The freshwater pearls unlike the ocean pearls come with more variety of colors and shapes. Because the freshwater pearl comes from mussels, and oysters, that live in lakes, rivers, they are very small in size. With years of experiments, Japan began to cultivate the pearls with mussels. This enriched the colors and the size of the pearl, giving them the most beautiful freshwater pearls in the world. That's why you'll hear people say they are cultured pearls.
To find a natural freshwater pearl on your own is very rare, but it could happen. Most freshwater pearls are pinks, peach, and lavender colors with flecks of gold or brown. And the most unique feature of a freshwater pearl is the shapes, they can be flat and round to the shape of a half moon. That's the beauty of them, they are so natural and no two will ever be the same.
